What is your favourite thing about wakeboarding? Hitting rails…
Favourite Trick: I love mobes and grabbed inverts, and I’m embarrassed to say this but I pretty much think railys are the coolest thing ever, S bends, Indy Glides… Nothing beats a huge tweeked out grab into the flats… blind 180 at the end… lol…I love when people get super tech on rails… which is why I love the french canadians so much! Also have a ton of respect for wakeskaters that are pushing the limits and landing new tricks, heelflips, 360 flips, double flips, fingers flips… I wish I could do a flip..lol
Favourite Rider: So many talented riders…. Where to begin… Anna Hajek and Nicola Butler are crazy good…Amber wing with her crazy grabbed inverts… Barrett Pearlman, Denise De Haan, Steph Caller, Sunni Ball… Erika Langman has amazing smooth style on rails… Kayle McMillen goes HUGE, Leslie Sparkes, also Jen GilanFarr, Stef Tor, Steph Whamsley… sromping new tricks for the wakeskaters…. EVERY GIRL ON THIS SITE!!! haha Also Ive gotta give props to Ben Greenwood, Andrew Adkison, Nick Davies, Oli and Raph Derome, Yan Tibo, Yan Lecomte, Dider….Andy Pastura, Nick Taylor, Danny Hampsen and Vince Whiteman.
Favourite Animal: I love reptiles. I could probably list a hundred that are my favourite… chameleons, day geckos, dart and mantella frogs, basilisks, thorny devils (yup), tree boas. I also love marines….i breed clown fish and seahorses. SHARKS are the best ever. I totally love tarantulas. I am definitely obsessed with monkeys and dolphins. Sea turtles….
Favourite Music: Daft Punk, Ladytron, Milosh, Boys Noize, Does it Offend You Yeah?, Digitalism, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Knife, Kylie Minogue, Cansei De Ser Sexy, Robots in Disguise, Chemical Brothers, Cut Copy, Alice in Videoland, Justice, LCD Soundsystem, Metric, MGMT, MSTRKRFT, New Young Pony Club, Mutemath, Minus the Bear, Santogold, Freezepop, Sigur Ros, The Mars Volta, Say Anthing, Nine Inch Nails, The Presets, Incubus, Brand New, She Wants Revenge, Ratatat…..
What are some of your best results? I’m not exactly concerned with contest results, I just ride for the fun of it. Contests definitely up the fun scale by quite a few notches. They push you to try your best and maybe set some goals for your riding, plus you get to meet a ton of awesome people in the process. I would never be at the level of riding I at at today if I never entered my first contest where my best trick was a one-wake heelside 180…
What are your goals for 2008 riding season? Wakeskating is my passion. I want to land shuv its….all the time…. I also want to get out on the rails more and work on presses and spins…. I want to gap a huge A frame… to frontboard. haha… I want to start doing lots of kicker sets…. Fun… and wake to wake… work on inverts and blind spins (no matter how many times I eat it).
What are some of your thoughts on female wakeboarding at the pro level? I thinks its totally amazing that women are progressing and I was stoked to hear about the Queen of Wake… Females getting to compete at all the stops is so key…. being able to afford going to all the stops is another issue however…. that sure isnt cheap!
How do you feel about the Canadian female wakeboard scene?? Females in the Canadian wakeboard scene are wicked. They are some of the coolest, friendliest, most laidback chicks I have ever met. When I walked onto the start dock of my first competition I could not have felt more welcome even though my skill level was lower then anyone else there. They were all so excited to see me even though I had never met any of them before. I have made some truly genuine friends who are super supportive and it’s super motivating!
What are your future plans with wakeboarding? To get more girls out there stoked on riding and get the hundreds of talented female riders the recognition they deserve.
What is the steeziest trick you have ever seen? Nose S Bend….. Huge blind 180 to switch nose press…. Steeeeeeeeeeeze!
Craziest thing you have ever done? Probably not a good idea to post that on the internet…. hmmm Maybe repelling a 130 foot waterfall…. felt kinda crazy at the time… or snorkeling (drunk) with giant sting rays and sharks… Oops….lol
Props to anyone? I have way too many people to thank for helping me with everything in the making of this site…. You should probably read the Letter from the editor
